One Indivisible Nation

No I am not talking about the United States with the title of this blog. I am talking about another nation that at this specific point in time I have an incredible amount of respect for and a lot of admiration for. Oddly enough, this is the same nation that I spend a good portion of the year ranting and raving about. That nation of course is none other than Japan. Ever since the earthquake hit Japan and devastated a good chunk of the northern part of the country and caused a nuclear meltdown, I have been doing a lot of reading and watching of shows that are about the Japanese way of life. I must say that it is probably one of, if not the most impressive things I have ever looked into.

One of the biggest things that literally stunned me when it came to the whole situation involving the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear crisis is that there has been a grand total of 0 reports of looting in the areas that were affected. To me that is INCREDIBLE. I mean if New York City, San Francisco, or any other major U.S. city I'm am 100% sure that there would be looting, killing, and probably about 100 other crimes going on. Again... Not one instance of looting in Japan... The Japanese public has been totally caring and loving towards one another and have even been welcoming total strangers into their lives. It's just the way that the Japanese culture is. They have so much respect for one another that it's amazing that in this day and age, a culture can be so in tune with one another.

Another thing that I have to take my hat off to is the group known as Fukushima 50 has been fighting against a melted down nuclear reactor. They have been fighting in the full blown radioactive reactor trying to save the entire nation from a massive meltdown. The amazing part of it is that they are more than willing to die trying to get the radiation to stop leaking. They are not willing to wait for other nations to get their acts together and send in robots and stuff like that, no they want to stop the problem now and are willing to die if needed to do so. My prayers go out to these brave workers as they have basically lived inside the radiation for almost a month now trying to save Japan from another nuclear disaster. Not only are these 50 employees of the plant working to save Japan, they are working to save the world too. There is a ton of radiation leaking into the Pacific Ocean, and the moment it enters the food chain, it probably has started to, the entire Ocean could be at risk. We may be half a world away from Japan, but here in the U.S. we have seen the radiation pretty much across the nation, as far east as P.A., yup that's right, Pennsylvania. Not a good thing at all and these 50 workers are working none stop to save everyone from a nuclear crisis.

In closing, I may be totally against Japan's whaling program, its tuna, shark, and dolphin industries, but outside of those things, Japan really is an incredible nation. I'm told that if you walk down the streets of Tokyo, there is no garbage in the streets, and if there is, someone picks it up, even if it is not theirs. There is also cushioned seats on the subways. Could you imagine that in New York? I sure can't. The Japanese people really are indivisible, even in the face of total disaster, the nation remains as united as ever and continue to be so now nearly a month after the disaster. Since the end of World War II, the United States and Japan have been pretty good allies, now I can only wish that we would follow their lead and unite as an entire nation and actually help each other and try to make our nation a better place. It's really a shame that all we can do is wish each other ill and try to benifit ourselves on an individual level and not as a people.

No video this time around. Rather just a repeat of me typing that I pray for those 50 workers inside of that nuclear plant as well as all the families affected by this tragedy. Long live the Yamato race...

Coming Out Of My Cage And I've Been Doing Just Fine...

I've been literally on the top of the world right now. Since the unfortunate and depressing loss of my uncle, I have been on one of the biggest upswings of my life. The amount of confidence and determination I have right now is just incredible.

So where did this all come from? Lets take a look shall we. First of all I have been coming more out of my shell as a person and have become quite a bit more social. I'm actually seeing other people that I normally wouldn't see outside of school. I've been getting more responsibilities at work which I have been able to keep a good hold of despite the lack of time I've had to really be at work. School is going great, but the workload is starting to pile on. That's okay though cause I know I will get it done, I just have to keep myself calm because I still has ample time to get it all done. Mid terms went great yet again. Out of the three midterms I got 2 As and a B+. I wanna say that I would have gotten 3 As, but the day of the exam that I got the B+ on happened to be the day of my uncles wake so my mind was far from easy. So that was all good. On top of all that Ron made it back from his tour overseas! That is such a relief to myself, Lauren, Heather, our families, and surely Ron's family as well. This news was just simply fantastic.

The mental high I am on out of all of this is just awesome. Oddly enough more and more people have been asking me if there is something wrong because I have been a bit more quiet and tired looking than normal. Yes I have been feeling a bit more tired lately, but I'm pretty certain that this is from the time change a couple weeks ago. When I loose sleep it takes me a very long time for me to get back to the energy level I was at. I've been more awake as of late, but I've been getting tired earlier and earlier. I will get over this and get back to my normal energy level. As far as being more quiet... I didn't really notice it, but now that it has been brought to my attention I will just say that there is nothing wrong and I feel totally fine, a little tired, but on the other hand, totally fine.

School is on the downswing finally. So much to go, yet so close to being done. Right now my determination has set me on a path to finish in the spring of 2012. This entails me taking 2 classes over the summer (ouch, but I really want to be done with this stuff and onto my next project) 5 courses in the fall, 1 course during winter break (ouch again, but that will set up for...) 4 courses in the spring, all electives and senior seminar. Sooooo close I can taste it and plan to go full throttle through it. I finished high school towards the bottom of my class, but my GPA of 3.6 sounds a lot better to me to finish with!

Life with Lauren has become very, very peaceful. We had a little stint a while back, but the only thing that came out of it was a lot of good. From a personal standpoint I know that I am not one to come right out and talk when something is bothering me. I am one to freak out when she insists nothing is wrong, when I can see something is. The past still tortures me as far as me being paranoid is concerned, but it's a demon that I am trying very hard to fight off. The understanding that we have now, I don't think we really had before for each others feelings on certain topics. Lauren makes it public knowledge that her back is killing her, but I never really knew the extent of her feelings, until this stint. Now we are even closer than we were and are really becoming an even more amazing couple and team!

Now for the return of the video of the blog!

Today's video is Famous Last Words by My Chemical Romance. I think this song was really the story of my life after high school. I got out, not really knowing what to do or where to go, but after continuing to live and fight on through the troubles of life, and now I have arrived at a much better place. I had to walk on my own for a while, but when the time was right things changed, I found someone and have been getting better and better at this game known as life despite constant bumps in the road that I stopped allowing myself to bring me down so much. Anyway... Enjoy Famous Last Words!

Party Party Party

I've been thinking a lot lately about some of my decisions in life. Just some random things that have popped into my head that I felt the need to talk to myself about. When I turned 21 I decided that I was going to have a drink every once in a while. Now though I have no interest again in doing it and am basically back to being straight edge as far as drugs and drinking is concerned. The thing that keeps going through my mind though is why do I feel like this. What has made me not care about drinking and doing drugs so much? I mean if I look at any of my real close friends... Every last one of them drink, and often times drink a lot. I don't hold it against them, it's their choice, they can get themselves all messed up and kill themselves if they want, it's not my area of concern. At the same time though, I have no drunken stories to tell. I have no stories to tell about narrowly dodging arrest when I'm drunk or anything like that. I know that things have happened within my family that would certainly turn me off to drinking, but even before those things happened I was dead against it. I almost feel like I'm a bore to my friends who love to drink cause they can all sit around a bar and tell drinking stories. On the other hand I just have stories about things that happen at the boardwalk during the summer. I have stories of animals chasing each other around and ignorant people being.... well... ignorant.

Basically I just feel like I am not the typical college student right now. I'm not a part of any group and I certainly do not go out and party at all. Seems crazy to be in college and have no desire to have a "good time". On the flip side of that, I really don't mind it at all. Even in school I really don't fit in with the group that I spend most of my time with. Sure I love video games and I do play Yugioh, but I don't play Yugioh online, nor would I ever, I don't play MMO RPGs, nor do I want to, and I don't cosplay or anything like that. So outside of playing cards during my down time at school, I don't even really deal with people from school.

Oh well, the party scene isn't for me. I guess I'm either too lame, uncaring, or just too dedicated to my ways to really do any of it. Oh well...
